Budget proposals.

I have £300 per month left after bills.

There are some ideas for a budget floating right now...

BUDGET A:
A budget of £35-£40 per week.
£40 a month 'Necessities' for items such as toiletries, household items etc. because at the start of the month I always have to top up on things I've run out of.
5 x 35 = £175 5 x 40 = £200
1 x 40 = £40
Meaning I have a budget of £240 per month.
It leaves me £60 to be flexible with. This can be spent on takeaways/treats/clothes/entertainment/gifts etc. I should be trying to save from this 'slush fund'
IF I manage to stay within the budget then any excess goes into an online saver.

BUDGET B:
A flat budget of £60 per week, everything has to come out of it. No 'slush fund', no 'Necessities' budget, simply get £60 out per week and manage. When it's gone, it's gone.
5 x 60 = £300
Again, IF I manage to stay within the budget then any excess goes into an online saver.

BUDGET C:
A budget of £50 per week. Everything to come out of it, but with a £50 excess.
5 x £50 = £250
1 x £50 = £50   to be flexible with - This can be spent on takeaways/treats/clothes/entertainment/gifts etc.
Once again, IF I manage to stay within the budget then any excess goes into an online saver.

What do you think? Do let me know...

What's it all about?

So doing this blog has got me thinking...

What do I want to achieve from it? My goal is to get through a month and have money left, to live within the budget set by my debt management programme and not rely on handouts and free meals from (beloved) friends and family. I don't expect to be able to do that immediately. So it's going to be partly an exercise in budgeting but also a log of what I buy and how much I spend in excess of what I should.
With that in mind, I will still splurge, I know I will, I need to. I need to have the evidence of how much I waste in order to look at how I can improve it. I need to splurge now and then because I deserve a splurge!

I get paid the day after tomorrow, so I need firstly to work out what my budget is.
I'll be back later with my budget. Ciao.
